Billboard Bits: Nine Inch Nails re-release Pretty Hate Machine

By Jonathan Cohen for Billboard Magazine on October 27, 2005

TrentAfter being out of print for the past several years, Nine Inch Nails' 1989 album "Pretty Hate Machine" will be reissued Nov. 22 via Rykodisc. The set was originally issued by TVT, which auctioned it off during an asset sale earlier this year.

NIN leader Trent Reznor has made no secret of his dislike for his former label over the years. He recently wrote on the band's Web site that he hoped "to eventually release a deluxe version" of "Pretty Hate Machine" at some point, but that it required "the additional hassle of dealing with TVT Records."

"Pretty Hate Machine" has sold 3 million copies in the United States since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991. The album features such NIN staples as "Head Like a Hole," "Terrible Lie" and "Down in It."
