Unreleased Nine Inch Nails, Revolting Cocks Tracks Due

Previously unreleased songs from Nine Inch Nails and Revolting Cocks are reason enough to pick up Alternative Press Presents: Industrial Strength Machine Music, The Framework of Industrial Rock 1978-1995 when it hits stores Sept. 14 via Rhino.
The NIN track is the live version of "Gave Up," which was recorded Feb. 13, 1995 at the Civic Arena in Omaha, Neb. The studio version of that song appears on the band's 1992 Broken EP.
The Revolting Cocks finally got permission for their cover of Olivia Newton-John's hit, "Physical." The band was turned down by the squeaky-clean pop star years ago, so the group went ahead and changed the melody of the song enough so that their version wasn't technically a "cover."
Titled "Physical (Let's Get)," the song appeared on the Cocks' Beers, Steers + Queers album. According to Alternative Press Senior Editor Jason Pettigrew, who compiled Industrial Strength with AP founder Mike Shea, the Cocks did manage to get out an extremely limited-edition of their original, unapproved cover of the song on a white label 12-inch. It's this version from 1989 that appears on the forthcoming Rhino disc.
The 16-track album, which marks AP's entree into the record biz, also features Einsturzende Neubauten's "Yu Gung (Futter Mein Ego)," Skinny Puppy's "Dig It," Ministry's "Stigmata," Throbbing Gristle's "Hamburger Lady," Meat Beat Manifesto's "Psyche-Out," KMFDM's "Godlike Doglike," Front 242's "Funkahdafi," Cabaret Voltaire's "Nag Nag Nag," Now's "Out Out Out," Coil's "Panic," Test Department's "Kick To Kill," Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel's "Anything (Viva!)," Clock DVA's "The Hacker" (video mix), and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult's "Kooler Than Jesus" (Electric Messiah Mix).
