Nine Inch Nails Confirmed For 1999 Video Music Awards

Confirming a rumor that has been circulating for over a month, Nine Inch Nails will make their return to the concert stage during a live performance at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards - the band's first-ever televised award show appearance. The band will include reinstated guitarist Robin Finck (allstar, Aug.3) as well as Trent Reznor, guitarist Danny Lohner, keyboardist Charlie Clouser, and drummer Jerome Dillon."

In addition to NIN, rappers Jay-Z and DMX, soul/R&B goddess Lauryn Hill, and rock/hip-hop splicer Kid Rock also joined an initial list of performers that includes Ricky Martin, the Backstreet Boys, and TLC.

Janet Jackson, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, Puff Daddy, Denise Richards, Freddie Prinze Jr., young opera sensation Charlotte Church as well as Michael Williams, Heather Donahue, and Joshua Lerner - the three young stars of the cult hit of the century, The Blair Witch Project -were also announced as presenters on Monday (Aug. 16).

The 1999 VMA's, hosted by comedian Chris Rock, will be broadcast live from the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York City on Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. Korn leads all nominees with nine nods for their hit video, "Freak On a Leash" (allstar, July 28).
