NIN To Launch World Tour In Spain

By Teri vanHorn for Sonicnet on September 1, 1999

Group announces 11 European dates for trek supporting The Fragile.

Industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails will launch what is expected to be a world tour in Barcelona, Spain, on Nov. 14, according to an itinerary posted on their website (www.nin.com).

The 11 announced dates will take the band through Italy, Germany, Austria, Denmark and France before Nine Inch Nails play London on Nov. 29 and Dec. 1.

No U.S. dates have been announced.

After five years of virtual silence, Nine Inch Nails last week released the double album The Fragile, their follow-up to The Downward Spiral (1994). With 17 pop songs and six instrumentals, the album is a roller-coaster ride of emotion framed by warm pianos, buzzsaw guitars and pounding industrial beats.

The Fragile includes the hit single "We're in This Together" (RealAudio excerpt) and a collaboration with gangsta-rap producer and MC Dr. Dre on "Even Deeper." "For The Downward Spiral, there was rigid set of guidelines," bandleader Trent Reznor said in a recent New York Times interview. "With this record, the framework and the guideline was complete train-of-thought subconscious ? you go where the music takes you."
