Atari Teenage Riot's Empire Talks About Tentative Recording Plans
Jan 3, 2000, 12:45 pm PT

Fresh off their opening slot for Nine Inch Nails' European tour, Atari Teenage Riot's Alec Empire reports about possibly working together in the near future. Just some casual, late-night, "Oh, yeah, we should do that" kind of talk or a real plan? Not sure yet, but here's what Empire has to say:

"We planned a lot of stuff. He said we should make a record in New Orleans at [Reznor's] studio basically after the Australian tour [for the Big Day Out festival late January and early February]. I think it would be a good idea. We just have to work out exactly what we want to do. But it could be interesting I think.

"When I first met him," continues Empire, "he goes, 'OK, Alec. I don't want to sound like I'm kissing your ass, but I think you're a genius and I want to get inside your head and understand how you do this stuff.' That was really funny I thought, the way he introduced himself."

That's not the only possible joint studio session that Empire has pencilled in this year. "I want to do stuff with [Rage Against the Machine's] Zack [De La Rocha]. We don't know exactly when yet but sometime in the first half of the year."
